The Erie Theatre launched May 30, 1918 in the existing Kenley Building that had recently housed the Modern Grocery store by James B. Cobb and James A. Holt. Cobb and Holt sold the operation to S.G. Rogers who equipped the venue with sound on September 19, 1930.

In October of 1931, Earl H. Barrett of Atoka purchased the Erie Theatre from Rogers. He closed the theatre for a major refresh relaunching it on November 19, 1931 as the Antlers Theatre now with air conditioning. The Antlers Theatre closed July 22, 1948 with Johnny Mack Brown in “Triggerman” supported Chapter 4 of the serial, “Dangers of the Canadian Mounted”. Jesse L. Cooper took on the venue closing it and opening the new Cooper Theatre in August of 1948.

Jesse Cooper was associated with this theater as early as 1937, as noted in this item from the March 1 Film Daily that year: “Antlers, Okla.— The Antlers Theater here, has been opened by Earl Barrett and Jess Cooper.”
