Palm Plaza Twin

The Jerry Lewis Cinema located in Palm Plaza in Englewood opened its doors as a single screener on January 22, 1972 with Walt Disney’s “The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes” and Jerry Lewis in “Big Mouth” along with Chapter 1 of “Captain Africa” (as a kiddie show matinee). However, after just 288 days of operation, the theatre closed on November 6, 1972.

After more than a year of the theatre being abandoned, the theatre reopened as the Palm Plaza Cinema on June 14, 1974 with Clint Eastwood in “Magnum Force”.

The Palm Plaza Cinema’s last attraction as a single-screener was “Silent Movie” and “End Of The Game” on September 23, 1976 before reopening the next day as a twin on September 24, 1976 with “Swashbuckler” and “The Boy Who Cried Werewolf” at Screen 1 and “Murder by Death” at Screen 2.

The Plaza Twin closed for the final time on April 29, 1982 with Edward Hermann’s “Reds” at Screen 1 and Walt Disney’s “Robin Hood” at Screen 2 as its last films.
