Located in the Haddington district, West Philadelphia. Not to be confused with the Mayfair Theatre on Frankford Avenue (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures). The Coliseum Theatre was opened by 1914 and was built behind an existing building. That building later became its very large entrance hall. In 1916 60ft was added to its length to the plans of architectural firm Hoffman-Henon Co.

On 14th January 1923 it reopened after being repainted with murals in an Egyptian style. In 1937 it was renamed Mayfair Theatre and the front entrance was given a modern style and the interior of the building was toned down. The Mayfair Theatre was closed in the 1960’s.

In October 2019 an office block development was being constructed on the site of the Mayfair Theatre.
