Dixie Theatre

This theatre appears on the 1914 Sanborn, in the southern storefront of a large 2 story brick commercial building that was constructed between 1896 and 1901. The 1908 map shows this portion as a furniture store.

Although quite commodious by early standards, this was for some reason not a success, and by 1925 this portion was part of a 10 cent store along with a building to the south.

Counting down storefronts from the corner is a bit confusing due to changes since the last available map, but I believe this may be the present number 121, which became the Carolina Theatre in 1935. I have used the historic address.
