Sky-Line Drive-In

On Sept. 5, 1953, Motion Picture Herald reported that George W. Lindsay had “opened his new Sky-Line drive-in, near Leitchfield, Ky”. In fact, the tiny drive-in was about halfway between Bee Spring and Sweeden, two unincorporated communities on Highway 259.

The Motion Picture Almanac listed the Sky-Line under Brownsville, an actual city seven miles south. Google Maps uses the USPS address of Sweeden.

Bowling Green’s Park City Daily News wrote in 1963 that fire destroyed the Sky-Line on September 29. The drive-in had a restaurant beneath its screen. “The restaurant and the theatre were owned by County Judge George William Lindsay”.

Today, an Auto Parts store sits where the screen was located. And on the back of the property is a home.

In-between you can still see faint indications of the ramps.
