Theatorium

This theatre appears on the 1913 Sanborn, in an old two-story wooden building constructed before 1893. The building had been a furniture store, but the 1908 map shows it vacant.

This theatre was not a success, and the 1923 map shows it as auto repair. The building remained on the 1930 map, but was demolished, along with the entire western 2/3 of the block, to be replaced by some public housing that appears to be from the 1970’s.

The address is unclear, but may have been 119. It was likely about where the entrance to the parking lot for the apartments is.

The Theatorium was one of two houses listed at Pocahontas in the 1914-1915 American Motion Picture Directory, the other being the Opera House. The Opera House was above the City Hall, which was also on St. Clair Street.
