Vendome Opera

The Aeolian was originally at this address. In 1932 a newsreel theatre named Radio Cine-Opera opened here with 400-seats. The design was typical of that kind of place (a narrow auditorium with a balcony but a quite spacious lobby with a bar). This theatre was renovated in the 1950’s and became a first run movie theatre with art movies, re-named Vendome.

When the multiplex-era started, a renovation and an opera movies program policy was a smart solution for this theatre which was close to the Opera Garnier. Sadly, the Vendome Opera was not profitable enough and closed on 3rd March 1991.
