One of the good things about the past was managers that could actually call a booker and book a feature.the Martin Theatre in Thomson,Georgia had a TARZAN SPECTACULAR on Sept. 7, 1961. The Three movies were:
“TARZAN"S GREAT ADVENTURE”
“TARZAN AND THE SHE DEVIL”
and “TARZAN’S HIDDEN JUNGLE” They were played on a saturday when many small town theatres would book such features, while mom shopped.
Well at least the building that was Columbia 1 and 2 is still up,Being used for a church and the other side a music store,Sure bet alot of Atlanta moviegoers hated to see it gone.
I have the article posted above somewhere that Alonzo writes about. As I said earlier in posts it was never same when those two large twin theatres were made into quads.
Yeah John, nothing like running a nice twin theatre,If I had my way we never would gone the 30 plex route,I pity the manager,or managers today, It is not the same business we worked in the 70’s and 1983 when i fially had enough.
I found it hard to believe that “LOVE STORY” played that long[one year] even though it was filmed there.26 weeks about par.It probably ran that long at Southgate Cinema.I am sure it seemed liked a year to employees with one screen.
I see that Grand Island had a Capitol theatre owned by TRI-STATE Theatre Corp. Located in Paramount Building in Des Monies.Iowa. Can’t find a Strand.Wonder if it had closed by 1956? Wish I could be of more help.

I am pretty sure all theatres need to be on guard, even back in the 70’s we had a problem with crabs at a theatre i worked at,At least that is what everyone thought the source was,who knows.Bed Bugs seem to be everywhere now.
Nice marquee.First picture was interesting.
Ray Milland story was good long with others.
The Metro Spirit has on it’s weekly cover a picture of the Lenox Theatre, full size. Sept.8-14 2010.METRO SPIRIT.COM

Alonzo, once again all that is written above, you are killing yourself with extra work.
Look at those movie times typical for small town theatres, and what makes them a bit special.Go Clint!
And it turns my stomach to read it was a GEORGIA THEATRE at the end,Please no more.
