Robin,you might have something on this.Did you manage it when Mr.Anderson was City Managers,oh he called female managers,Supervisors,It was a man thing with him?
Bill had all his lobby cards stolen,and 8 by 10 stills,but the picture you gave him he has it.Wanted you know. Not a nice Summer for two theatre folks from National Hills,Robin and Bill.
Projectionist,Bill Barkley said the Carolina and Marrh Theatres are the same.I sorta thought they might be.Here is Bill’s Quote:“The Marrh Theatre was rented by Bubba Farr a projectionist with local 518 in Augusta.The owner would not let him use the Marrh Name,hence,he changed it to the CAROLINA.The theatre was a work of art on each aisle there was a oversize seat for couples to use to sit close to each other during the movie.A smoking room with speakers and large plate glass,on the other side a crying room for babies.the booth for the 50’s was top notch and very clean"Bill went on "North Augusta only had two theatres this one Marrh/Carolina and the Hilltop Drive-in all on CT.” Thanks Bill.
If this theatre is located in Northridge Shopping center , BOXOFFICE had a write up on the Manager,Ruth Pavic retiring.She was replaced by Gail Turnbow who comes from the Varsity Theatre in Peoria,ILL.Boxoffice August 1987.
Did you ever take a picture of Stonemont 1 and 2 Theatres.I think they are the sister to Columbia 1 and 2 where i managed for a few years.In Augusta[Martinez.Ga.}
Frederick,I saved hundreds of old ads from Augusta Theatres and one day at the age of 15 i decided to tape them all in a tree fort and they are gone.I have been able to collect quite few finding old newspapers in old homes,attics and such.I loved everyone,the older the better.I have a pressbook on “HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS” why it is not on DVD i will never know.I have a VHS of it.Thanks so much,hope others will see what you have.I will be revisiting it.
Never knew who did the voice over on the trailer.I saw it enough plugging it at the other ABC THEATRE i worked in Town.You are right AdamBomb 1701 his voice makes that one of the best trailers ever made if they are even ranked.Never saw the shark.
Nice comments.Be nice to see how many locals feel about their"historic" theatre.I say that because when the Columbia Theatre in Harlem,Ga. revealed the new marquee only a handful showed up and most of them old employees from the 50’s and 60’s.I really think most locals could care less.
How did i miss CLINT.Great Actor,but horrible ape movie.Thanls TLS.
No show that I know of,I see a bunch of Atlanta theatres like Mall Corners on Ct,I left a post there for you Robin.
