Before DISNEY got there I didn’t this town had anything, but it had CINERAMA,something the IMPERIAL wanted in Augusta, but according to an old projectionist the fire department wouldn’t approve,Two exit doors would have to be moved or covered,by the screen. So Orlando had CINERAMA,before Disney.
Ben,great shots, I remember when i decided to drive over to REGENCY MALL and take a few pictures of my old triple REGENCY I,II,&III Cinemas: I knew the mall was slowly going down hill and i wanted a shot of the frontBoxoffice,It was inside the mall. So i took my pictures and walked out of a dying mall. Before I got to my car MALL SECURITY drove up and demanded to know what i was doing in the mall with a camera.I should have told them to piss off, but i explained what i did.I couldn’t believe it. A dying mall who would care.Hope you didn’t run into the MALL POLICE.Hell, they were never any help when i was the Assistant Manager in the early 80’s. I handled trouble myself.Bunch of wanta be “dirty harrys”,Small caps in honor of Clint Eastwood.
Paul68,just be glad you got to work in a theatre, seems like most of the folks on CT never had the fun we did because we worked in the business,Me 7 years and for GCC. Our REGENCY MALL I.II.&III looked the same as yours inside.
I am trying to follow in your theatre footsteps with cute quotes.I keep looking for LOEWS THEATRES you haven’t found, but doggone it you are on almost everyone i find.
Thanks Chuck1231 and Joe.I just thought the names sounded real close to the same city.I will keep checking my 1956 Almanac, maybe i can locate the owners for John.
Okay, Robin and Tlsloews and going to check them out. Wouldn’t be easier just put them on the theatre sites.Seems like a lot of extra work, but i am going to check them.
If you had those old carbon arcs in theatres with cue marks and change overs there would much fewer complaints about movies today when a trained and usually a union man is in the booth, and not some 17 year old kid trying to figure out how to score with"SUSIE" the candy girl. Right on Norelco.
Wasn’t this guy a kung-fu producer of all those 70’s classics like “FIVE FINGERS OF DEATH”?

I wonder how many one-sheets were tossed in trash by the clean up crew.Hopefully, they were smart enough not toss them in the trash.
