Gamescape ‘on schedule’ to open next month
Representatives for company say Gamescape will open in early July
By Travis Hairgrove | Jun 8, 2026 Updated Jun 9, 2026
Greenville residents are closer to having a movie theater again as well as a new entertainment destination as Gamescape prepares to open its doors in early July.
At the Greenville Chamber of Commerce’s summer quarterly luncheon on Friday, representatives of Gamescape (a division of theater chain Cinemark) said they are “on schedule” to open “before the Fourth of July.” As such, the company is currently hiring staff and applications can be accessed online at https://tinyurl.com/mxxhpyuk.
Located on the recently-completed Abolwich Drive – a road connecting Sayle Street and Monty Stratton Parkway behind the Texas Roadhouse, Jersey Mike’s and Olive Garden on westbound Interstate 30 – Gamescape is the planned anchor for a retail center and will include eight auditoriums for viewing movies as well as an 18-lane bowling alley, video arcade, laser tag, a rock climbing structure, full restaurant and a sports bar.
As Gamescape goes through its remaining preparations before opening,
The Stainback Organization (the developer helming the Greenville Retail Center project) expects to be reimbursed an additional $2 million from the City of Greenville in exchange for completion of supporting infrastructure related to the construction of Abolwich Drive – such as erosion control, pavement, storm drains and water/sewer lines.
The Greenville City Council plans to vote on the reimbursment this Tuesday in accordance with the reimbursement agreement they entered with Stainback in June 2024.
Once completed, the retail center is planned to include more restaurants, an apartment complex, grocery store, storage facility and another anchor in addition to Gamescape.
In Case You Missed It: Regal Cinemas Closed Four Colorado Locations
POSTED BY
Bryan
If you haven’t been to the movies in quite some time, this may be “news” to you. The definition of “going to the movies” has definitely changed since the pandemic. Before COVID-19, many went to the movies on a regular basis. However, now, most prefer to watch movies at home for a variety of reasons, but mostly because it’s more convenient, less expensive and safer.
The change in how movies are now experienced and distributed has had a direct impact on theater chains, especially on getting people to actually fill the physical seats. Unfortunately, it means many locations have shuttered.
Over the past few years, Regal Cinemas has closed four of its Colorado locations.
Regal Cinemas has permanently closed the following locations:
Contintental Stadium 10 & RPX in Denver — Closed in April 2023
Regal Cinebarre Greenwood Plaza in Englewood — Closure date unknown
Regal UA Denver West Village Stadium 12 in Lakewood — Closed in September 2021
UA Meadows Stadium 12 in Littleton— Closed in June 2023
Theatre 20 has 70MM DTS equiped and theatre 13 is IMAX with Laser and Theatre 5 is closed due to installation of 4DX, according to the AMC Website, it’s coming to this location.

Take a spin around Pandora’s Box, our signature bar paying homage to the classic women of film. Pick up a delicious craft cocktail or local brew and head down the hallway to catch a show in one of our nine luxurious theaters.
As you head down the hallway, you won’t be able to miss the entrance to our Big Show auditorium. The Moloch Monster from METROPOLIS beckons you into a theatrical experience like no other. The Big Show features our Premium Large Format experience with a dual-stacked Sony 4K Laser Projector and Dolby Atmos sound.

All of our auditoriums are equipped with Sony 4K Laser Projection and our state-of-the-art 7.1 surround sound audio systems provide full range multi-channel fidelity for faithful reproduction of audio soundtracks. We began our showings here in Westminster with some exciting titles - TOY STORY 4, MIDSOMMAR, SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME - as well as taking the opportunity to pay homage to the classics, screening a 4K Restoration of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY.
You’ll also see a brand new menu at this new Alamo Drafthouse. Tex-Mex “Beerbacoa” queso, Chicken Tinga Burritos, and so many more tantalizing eats to enjoy - all from the comfort of our reclining leather seats. That’s right. Saw 1917 when it was 500 seats with a balcony. Regal destroyed this house, going to 17 screens wasn’t necessary. Should of stayed 14 screens
