Worked at this theatre briefly in the late 1980’s when Bob Hartgrove “ran” it. The seats were all cut up and they didn’t allow patrons in the balcony. I had to change the marquee once, and as the gentleman above states, you had to put the ladder in the street – very interesting with all the traffic. Oh, and the staff was stealing Bob blind, but then he “inspired” that in people.

I worked at the Northgate from 1992-1995, when it was just a $1 theatre. My best memory was climbing up on the roof and watching the fires on the Franklin Mountains.

Saw the animated The Swan Princess in 1994 featuring the late, great Jack Palance with my daughter. All I really remember about this theatre is it had really, really narrow seats. Painfully narrow.

And right across from the Montwood 3 was a video arcade where I first played Dragon’s Lair. You’d go buy candy bars and such at the grocery store (which had Mrs. Pacman out front), then buy your tickets, then discover that all the candy you had bought had melted onto your skin… good times!

I have a few (very few sadly) pictures of the Cinema Park marquee and ticket booth (with the burnt up concession stand in the distance) from just before the place was bulldozed. If you’re interested please contact me. I also used to work at the Cinema Park for McLendon, FLW, and the “legendary” Bob Hartgrove (ooh boy!)
