The 70mm 6-track presentation was always first class with 2x Fedi Xi’T mechs (traditional presentation) and RCA audio during the 1970s. I have not heard better 70mm 6-track audio anywhere before or since. I gather it did go a bit ‘downhill’ when ‘long play’ systems were later introduced. I did not see any show there after the introduction of cakestands.

I was contacted by the owner in 1994 when it closed for bingo. Jim Schultz removed Caumont Kalee 20 sets with President arcs from the projection box. They were still in nice condition. I was told that it closed for film shows in 1975. Several adverts that I rescued would support that closure was later than 1967. They can be seen (screened at Tyneside Cinema) on my YouTube channel here … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9nZg7kFHqo&t=10s

I worked here from 1994 to 2006. The photo of the stalls area predates the removal of the Tannoy PA columns c.2001 (some patrons actually thought they were used for films). Projection was Philips DP75 with Peerless Magnarcs burning Marble Double Eagle carbons (supplied by Jack Roe).
