My late uncle Jim Carter was the chief there in the late 50s early 60s and the owner he said was called mossy Harris and he had a assistant called ratcliffe , he had fond memories of being chief as the original chief got sacked for throwing a film off the balcony in anger
My dear friend John who owns this cinema / theatre passed away recently, I’m from the UK and he was a good friend and he was the best in the business he helped me restore my simplex machines , truly missed
I worked for showcase cinemas as chief projectionist up until 2 years ago when digital ruined our careers they closed that cinema as jaguar made them a offer they could not refuse
I was a senior projectionist there in 1999-2002 when it was UGC with Ian Bolton and ron shepard who where original from the abc central in reading .screen 4 still has the changing rooms for the theatre under the stage also the projector could be seen through the glass fronted projection room
