IMAX auditorium (or, auditorium #7)

Taken on July 3rd, 2022. I had snuck in (sorry, Regal) and got a good look at the auditorium, as at the time I took the picture, there wasn’t any pictures of the auditorium. No, those aren’t recliners, but rather plush rockers, in the style of recliners. They’re pretty comfy, although the leather covers are beginning to wear out.

Prior to the installation of these plush rockers, this auditorium had Regal’s WAY older plush rockers (you know, the ones with the gray fabric) and because of its compact design, could fit in way more people. As you can tell with the old auditorium design from the Act III days, this was a retrofit - the IMAX was installed in 2008, opening on December 19th of said year, presumably in time for screening Scott Derrickson’s “The Day The Earth Stood Still”.

At the time I took this picture, this IMAX only had xenon projection and a 6 track sound system, but now, it has been upgraded to single laser AND 12 track projection not too long ago. Now, Regal’s IMAX locations here in the valley all have laser, according to IMAX’s website, so a big win for locals who want that premium format goodness.
