•
Loews signed up for a 20-year lease for its Loews Cinemas at 20 & 287 as Interstate 20 would be re-routed to the South creating a retail nexus in south Arlington and south Fort Worth. Opening with the features reflected in the photo on December 7, 1984, the theater would pass from Loews to AMC in a buyout and the circuit dutifully steered the cinema to its closure with virtually no changes as the lease expired in 2004. The theater was unceremoniously demolished thereafter.

 •
Truly the most beautiful movie theater in Houston, it was located at 2660 Augusta Drive one block off of Westheimer. Featured 4 THX theaters of its nine. The Largest theater held 672 guests, The smallest held 64. A favorite of many Houston celebrities, they would often be seen attending movies at the beautiful theater.

 •
This cinema was my first stop when I visited Houston for the first time in 1989. I went to see the restored Lawrence of Arabia in 70MM/THX and if you look at this photo, you can see the 70MM tag on the marquee. When I moved to Houston in 1991, this was my favorite place for movies. When they installed DTS in the THX houses for Jurassic Park, no other cinema could complete for sound and presentation.

 •
This is River Oaks Theatre 1-6. SS Krege use to be here. But in the late 80’s a 6 plex movie house was made.
