The Imperial theatre is screening LORD JIM - Lord Jim is a 1965 adventure film written, directed, and produced by Richard Brooks. It is the second film adaptation of the 1900 novel by Joseph Conrad, following a 1925 silent film. The film stars Peter O'Toole, James Mason, Curt Jürgens, Eli Wallach, Jack Hawkins, Paul Lukas, Akim Tamiroff, Juzo Itami and Daliah Lavi.
THE IMPERIAL THEATRE - Located in Lutwyche, a suburb in the north of Brisbane. This was an early cinema with opened in March 1915 as the Imperial Picture Pavilion. It was modernised in an Art Deco style by 1940. It was operated by Savoy Theatres Pty. Ltd. It was equipped with an electronic organ.
The Imperial Theatre was closed in the early-1980’s. It has since been demolished and a Good Life Health Club now stands on the site - Notes by Ken Roe
