Pasolini’s unsurpassed film on the life of Christ, “The Gospel According to St. Matthew” (Il Vangelo secondo Matteo) Played at the Cable Car on April 2, 1992 and elsewhere a number of times by the Italian Film Society of RI as well as regular engagements in cinemas across the state in the Italian or English versions.

Pasolini’s Jesus was played by Spaniard Enrique Irazoqui. For a number of years before his death we were Facebook friends and communicated a good deal about his role in the film, Beethoven’s string quartets, and American politics.
