It would’ve been at about 4561 Augusta Road. It appears that the gravel/dirt remains of a driveway are still there, but other than that, no sign a drive-in was ever here.
I would love to see some photos of this. I went as a child. Please send to . Thanks!
This opened on January 22nd, 1953. Its grand opening ad can be found in the photo section for this drive-in.
Opened with “Horizons west”. Closed in 1990. Demolished in(1995?). Site mostly overgrown with trees.
Although most of the property is still undeveloped, the only real sign that the drive-in once existed is a few feet of the entrance road. Several boulders are in place to prevent anyone from driving on to the property.
It appears that the Augusta Road Drive-In closed as a movie theater on August 25, 1985 with “Brewster’s Millions” and “All Of Me” (plus a chance to win a then-new 1986 Ford Aerostar), but continued to operate as a flea market until 1990.
