On May 7, 1944, the Church Hill Theatre suffered serious damage by a projection-related fire. The fire started while its operator, Allen Scott, was making a pre-run of a film when it exploded and enveloped the interior in flames afterward. The theater reopened a short time afterward.
Was it 1983 when it closed? wow how time flies I remember see Rocky there, It was the last movie my father took me to before he passed away, Glad to see that one was preserved.
