A conversion of an auto dealership. The Tower Theatre was opened July 2, 1941 seating 750. It stood on Virginia Street near Pine Street. It was closed by 1965 and converted back into an auto dealership.
It has been demolished and has since been replaced by a new building.

The Tower Theatre was located on Virginia St., between Liberty and Pine. A Wells Fargo Bank highrise is now at that site.
From the 1950s a photo postcard that captured a good view of the Tower Theatre in Reno.
What a great photo! Looks nothing like that now. Wells Fargo Bank/highrise takes up that entire block. Thanks for your posting!
From the 1940s a photo of South Virginia St. showing several businesses along with the Tower Theatre in Reno.

This history via Phillip L. Sublett: The Tower Theater (formerly the Scott Motors Building, the largest auto showroom in Nevada), was open from July 3, 1941, to May 20, 1959, on property leased from Onslow S. Dodd’s Ryland estate. Read more about the Dodd-Ryland properties here:

According to an item in the February 7, 1966 issue of Boxoffice, the new Centre Theatre, then under construction, was being built for Mr. and Mrs. William G. Cooke, who had formerly owned and operated the Tower Theatre. The Tower, the item said, had been converted for use as an automobile agency, so in the nd it reverted to its original use.
