This item from the January 6, 1912 issue of Moving Picture News indicates that the Forum Theater operated in at least two locations in McAlester: “McAlester, Okla.—The Forum Moving Picture Theater No. 2 was slightly damaged by fire.” This may explain why there is a photo of a Forum Theater running a movie released around 1917 (as per the description above) even though the house apparently closed in 1914.

The Forum theatre opened on November 24th, 1909 and its listings ended in 1914. Article posted.

On google maps at the top of this page, using the correct address of 202 E. Choctaw Ave., McAlester, OK 74501-5026 there is a fine image of the former Forum Theatre (now Marilynn’s Boutique). The look of the building has hardly changed through all these years. The V Theatre can also be seen three doors East of the Forum.

McAlester Public Library has provided the correct address for the Forum Theatre, it was at 202 East Choctaw Avenue. A law firm now occupies this location.
