Opened on January 1, 1947 as a Spanish movie house.
Was definitely in the movie “Midnight Cowboy”. That’s “him”, right side of the capture above, carrying the suitcase.
You can change this to demolished. They leveled the whole block.
the 1982 photo does not seem to be the Rio Theatre that was in the opening credits sequence of the movie “Midnight Cowboy”. Jon Voight walks right past it within the first 2 minutes of the film. It has a different marquee sign. Note that it appears to be the jumbled title of the movie “The Alamo” with John Wayne. check it out.
