Iowa Theater

The Iowa Theater opened on November 28, 1929 with Will Rogers in “They Had to See Paris”. It was listed with 633-seats. It was operated by the Sioux City based Affiliated Theaters Inc. from the early-1950’s until it closed along with the Hollywood Theater in 1969. The Iowa Theater was one of seven theaters operated by Affiliated Theaters Inc.

During the 1950’s and 1960’s the manager of the theatre was “Dear Abby’s” father. The projectionist of the IOWA was O.T. Jaynes, the secretary of the projectionist union. He also operated the projectors at the Orpheum, Hollywood and the Capitol.
