The Lion Theatre was opened in the early-1920’s. By 1941 it had been renamed State Theatre. It had closed by 1957. The State Theatre was a gift shop a few years ago.

In 1989 I had occasion to enter this theater when a client of mine was proposing to use it for a retail location. The seats had been removed but the deco interior was intact. A carbon arc projector was sitting on the main floor and the original popcorn machine was still in the lobby. The main theater is entered through an adjoining long narrow building and seems to be housed in a building considerably older than the theater.

LM, I followed your instructions and lifted this photo from the ad. The theater is partially visible on the left, next to the bank. I think the status should be changed to unknown:

The former State theatre building has now been demolished.

The State Theater Opened Its Doors As The Lion Theatre Sometime In The Early 1920s.
