The Savannah Mall 10 was opened on November 20th, 1998. Grand opening ad posted.

Makes me wonder what they plan to do with this theater, since it’s been closed for almost four years now.

This theater just closed a few weeks ago. The lease was up, from what I’ve heard. It opened in 1998.

Seating capacities at this theater:

  • Theaters 1 & 10 – 194 seats

  • Theaters 2 & 9 – 111 seats

  • Theaters 3 & 8 – 133 seats

  • Theaters 4 & 7 – 212 seats

  • Theater 5 – 274 seats

  • Theater 6 – 344 seats

If I remember correctly from an article at the time they both opened (August 1998, by the way; I saw “Blade” there opening weekend.), both theater chains wanted the land & I think they were on the verge of filing lawsuits over who staked their claim on the land first when both sides agreed to split the land.

It’s a very unusual scenario indeed.

This 10-plex is right next door to Carmike’s 11-plex. There has to be an awesome story behind this.
