Pioneer Theatre

Opened in a building originally housing a store, the El Notrevo Theatre was cleverly named by spelling the town of Overton’s name backward.

Since around 1975 it has operated as the Pioneer Theatre until it closed in late-2013.

This building was originally my Great Grandfather’s, James Peter Andersen, store.
It was the El Notrevo theater for many years until about 1975 when it was purchased and renovated and became the Pioneer Theatre. It is still in operation today.

I do have a picture of it when my Great Grandfather had it as a store. But don’t know how to post it.

Gina – you can e-mail it to me at and I’ll post it.

Overton is a lovely town. I passed through there a couple of weeks ago and had an excellent lunch at the Inside Scoop.

Here is Gina’s photo of the building as Andersen Mercantile Co.
