The Strand Theatre opened March 10, 1924. By April 1936 it was operated by the Jefferson Amusements Company. It was remodelled in 1938 to the plans of architect Leon C. Kyzburz and operated through to the 1950’s. It had live local entertainment for Saturday morning kiddie shows.

The Strand was one of three Port Arthur houses operated by the Jefferson Amusement Company which the chain planned to remodel, according to an item in the April 13, 1936 issue of Motion Picture Daily. The other two were the Peoples and the Pearce.
