Originally built in the 1920’s and opened by 1923 when it was operating as a playhouse. In 1945 the Folly Theatre got the star treatment with a new Streamline Moderne style look. It was closed in 1954.

Had opportunity to enter the old theater today. Fly in bad disrepair. Floor has been leveled, though it still has a slight slope. They have had a dance studio in the building most recently. The building is for rent.
Here is what the Folly Theatre looks like now. Quite a large stagehouse for such a dinky little theatre.

The Folly Theatre was in operation by 1923 at 713 West Main in Duncan. It left the Duncan telephone book in 1954. The back of the theatre is raised to support a curtain system. Wonder if live performances occurred.
An advertisement for the Folly Theatre in the December 15, 1922 issue of The Duncan Daily Eagle and Banner touted performances by the Ferguson Bros. Stock Company continuing through the following week, so the house did present stage shows.
