My granddaddy jack rasco ran the movie projector for over 30 years for the Hackneys . He even worked for joe hackney the original owner. I got to go upstairs with him and that was so cool! I got in free as long as the hackneys owned it ! Please post any memories you have of those great days

The Plaza did suffer minor damages from a fire in 1965, but reopened later that same year. Joe Hackney was the original operator who operated the Plaza from its July 1946 opening until his death from an illness in August 1979. His son Don immediately took over that same year, and operated the Plaza for more than a decade until its final closure in December 1996. A Facebook user confirms that “Ransom” was the final film screened at the Plaza. It was demolished on January 11, 2023.
