News About This Theater
- Feb 8, 2008 — Vienna theater allows dogs
The Admiral Kino has been operating in District 7 of Vienna since 1913. It is an old style but delightfully refurbished cinema. It has quite a long narrow auditorium on one level. The proper term for this cinema in ‘Ladenkino’ - shop cinema. The Admiral Kino is one of the last neighbourhood cinemas operating in Vienna which is not a multiplex.
It was renovated in 2008 and is very well maintained and draws a faithful crowd of cinefiles. What is striking, is its elegant foyer with a classic concession stand and a number of high tables around which you can gather while waiting for admission into the auditorium. It screens retrospective seasons of cult movies and art-house fare. The programme is vary varied as the Admiral Kino screens two to three different films a day.
Cinema patrons can now bring their dogs to the movies (for free) every first Thursday of the month!
