The Joy Theater was in a small corner building with a red trimmed marquee that sheltered the entrance and outside ticket booth and wrapped around the corner of the building. Above the entrance was a red vertical sign that had "Joy" spelled out with large white letters. The Joy Theater was opened December 24, 1941. It was closed on August 6, 1966 following a 17-weeks run of Julie Andrews in “The Sound of Music”.
