This was a single screen theater with 478-seats in the orchestra level and a small 100-seat balcony. It opened on July 24, 1964 with Debbie Reynolds in “The Unsinkable Mollie Brown”. It was part of the Nutmeg Circuit which merged with Carroll’s Cinemas of Syracuse, NY to form CinemaNational. In 1987, USA Cinemas bought CinemaNational and in 1988, Loews bought USA.
After closing by Sony Theatres in 1995, the Wilton Cinema became a TJ Maxx clothing store.

The Wilton Cinema opened its doors by Nutmeg Theatre Circuit on July 24, 1964 with “The Unsinkable Molly Brown”. USA Cinemas took over the theater in 1986 followed by Loews in 1989. It was last operated by Sony Theatres who closed the theater in 1995.
How depressed was everyone with the Wilton Cinema closed on May 30, 1994? So bad that when Loews shuttered following the last showtimes that it showed “Even Cowgirls Get the Blues.” Loews was working month-to-month leasing unable to get a favorable renewal. So they were booted and the space demolished for a T.J. Maxx retail clothing store.
