Located in the Downtowner Plaza, the Plaza Cinemas opened as a twin screen movie theatre April 8, 1977 with “A Star is Born” and “Freaky Friday”. It was closed in 1990 and reopened as Movies Two on October 9, 1992. It became the Hollywood Studio Theatres from July 8, 2000. It screens first run movies and does particularly well with family orientated films.
It was brifly closed for a ’re-organization' in August 2008, and reopened as the Shelby Theatres on November 7, 2008.
