After looking at the 1983 aerial, the drive-in definitely appears closed.
There is no evidence of the screen, but admittedly that is difficult to tell because of all the overgrowth. Which is also a strong indication that the drive-in had closed.
Add to the back fence being gone and the entrance road also overgrown and safe to say that this drive-in most likely closed in 1978.
And totally demolished by 2006, Advantage Self-Storage now sits on the property. There is no trace of the drive-in remaining.
Also, it may’ve continued operating without advertising. The Hope Star didn’t advertise the Dixie as much in 1977.
Still open in 1978. Aerial views from 1983 and 1985 show the theater but I cannot tell if its still in operating shape or not. There was a black line that most likely could be its screen. It was completely gone by 1994.
Renamed Hope Drive-in in 1958. Site is now Advantage Self Storage.
The Hope Drive-In Theatre launched on May 15, 1952 with the film, “Tomahawk.“ The Dixie may have closed as ads are discontinued after the September 18, 1977 showing of "Bingo Long and the Traveling All-Stars”
