The Roxy Theatre was the second movie theatre to open in Coquille, after the Liberty Theatre. It opened on August 22, 1947. The Roxy Theatre was closed as a movie theatre in 1966. It was then used by the Sawdust Theatre Company for the following 28 years until it was destroyed by a fire on July 19, 1994.

In 2000, the Sawdust Theatre Co. opened a new theatre, located at 114 N. Adams Street.

The old Sawdust Theatre that burnmed was formerly the Roxy. This is a new building that was never a movie theatre.
