The 8-screen Movie House opened on 30th September 1992. It is located in the Yorkgate Shopping Centre (now known as City Side) and had a seating capacity of 1,450.
Operated by the independent Movie House Cinemas chain, on 27th March 1998 an extra 6-screens were added. Seating capacities in the screens range from 340, down to 90. In May 2025 it was eqipped with recliner seating in all auditoriums and the total seating capacity was reduced to 1,261-seats.

The additional 6 screens were fully operational by 27 March 1998.
Screens 1, 2, 3, 8 and 14 now have VIP seating (at no extra fee).
After the refurbishment was finished in May 2025, the cinema there is officially 100% Recliner Seating in every Screen.
