New Park Cinema

Located in the Starch Green area of Shepherd’s Bush in west London. It was almost next to the Seven Stars Public House. The Park Cinema opened in June 12 with 525 seats. By 1918, the seating capacity had been increased to 620. The Park Cinema was closed by 1927.

It was re-opened and re-named New Park Cinema from 24th October 1930, after RCA sound equipment had been installed. It was closed in around 1940 due to serious damage from German bombs.

Since demolished, the site is now a post war extension of Ravenscourt Park, next to A.C. Automotive Engineering.

My great great grandfather was the proprietor of this cinema in the 1920s. This and West Ealing Kinema… there were 2 more apparently… I’d love to find out which ones but it’s proving difficult!
