The original Cinema I & II, opened December 24, 1972 with Barbra Streisand in “Up the Sandbox” & Dean Jones in “Snowball Express”. It was located inside the Security Mall. It was a combination of decent-sized "traditional" auditoriums and General Cinema’s infamous 1970’s "bowling alleys" (long, narrow rooms).

On March 2, 1979 two more screens located elsewhere in the mall were added, at least one of the larger houses had a nice Dolby Stereo sound system. A sound-only snipe before features announced that intermission music was sponsored by York Steak House, a restaurant in the mall. This theater closed on March 29, 1987, to be replaced by the current Security Square 8 complex outside the mall (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures).

A large food court is in the space once occupied by the Security Mall Cinema.
