Located to the north of Muleshoe, TX. The Cox Drive-In was opened on April 17, 1950 with Jeanette MacDonald in “Three Daring Daughters”. It was operated by A. Howard Cox & D.E. Cox. They were still the operators in May 1965 and the Cox Drive-In was closed at the end of the 1971 season.

I’m guessing this was the exact location….

That’s it! Approx. location for this drive-in was Texas 214 and W. Fir Ave.
The Cox was still open on May 30, 1965, when it appeared in a statewide ad for the movie “Shenandoah” in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Concession building still stands.
The base of the marquee may be present next to the entrance road of the property.
The land still has the aerial view, showing remains of the drive in & outline until at least to now, present day.. U can see where the screen once was. Where the snack was, appears to still be some kind of structure there today. RAC Photography
A closer address is 1817 Co Rd 1053, Muleshoe, Texas.
Google Maps has updated their addresses and this puts it right on the property. However, it doesn’t like adding “Muleshoe”, but I put it in there and it works.
A 1984 aerial shows the drive-in intact, but I do not know if it was operational. By 1996, it had been demolished.
Today, you can still see the outline, ramps, and foundation of the screen. The house on the property sure looks like a projection booth/concession stand that was converted and had a new roof added.
There is also a rectangular concrete foundation close to where the marquee once stood, so that may be it.
