Roxy Theatre

Located a few doors down from the Rex Theatre, aka Main Theatre. The Roxy Theatre was open in the late-1920’s. In the 1940’s it was listed as being operated by Paramount Pictures Inc. through their subsidiary Ed Rowley. It was still open in 1950, but no closing date was given in the article.

The building has since been demolished and a parking garage built where the Roxy Theatre and the Rex Theatre once stood.

One source says this house opened around 1930 as the Little Roxy Theatre. It was one of the smallest theaters downtown, but was much admired as Little Rock’s leading house for fans of western movies. It closed around 1955, at the dawn of the wide screen era.
