Mexico Theatre

The Mexico Theatre is listed in 1955 with 399 seats. The first listing that I can find for the Mexico Theatre is 1941 when it had 250 seats. It was closed April 2, 1967 and now serves as a Masonic Lodge.

The building the Mexico Theatre was in was constructed in 1878-79 as the town hall. It was leased to Otto Gratzer to use as a theater in 1940. It opened with Knute Rockne - All American in November of that year. It is not clear if it still operates as a Masonic Lodge. The Town Court is still in the building.

(Information for the theater is from the book “Mexico: The 20th Town in the 20th Century” by Bonnie Shumway, Town Historian, Elsie Farrell, Allie Proud and Sandra Scott and published by the Mexico Historical Society in 1996).
