Baker Cinema

Baker is a small suburban town north of Baton Rouge which did not get its first theater until June 6, 1974, when the Baker Cinema was opened between two of its larger shopping centers. Opening as a family-owned single screen, the opening movie was Joe Don Baker in “Walking Tall”. It existed on a steady run of second run product usually for 99-cent admissions. The family sold the theater to the Ogden-Perry chain in early summer of 1978 and a year later, it had been twinned.

By 1981 the Baker Twin Cinema had closed and was last in operation as a church, which has since ceased.
