Please update, AMC Almeda West closed on September 13, 1990 with Class of 1999, Pump Up The Volume, My Blue Heaven and Die Hard 2 and the AMC Almeda 5 theatre closed December 19, 1997 with Scream 2, Home Alone 3, Mortal Kombat, Anastasia and The Devil’s Advocate the day before the AMC Gulf Point 30 open
It and the AMC Northwest 4 opened on December 12th, 1969 (Town & Country 6 on Christmas Day). Grand opening ads posted.
Nine screens on June 25th, 1976. Ad posted.
It was the AMC Almeda 9 Theaters I vividly remember seeing that wording over the marquee on the sign along side the gulf freeway. The original 4 screen at the corner of Kingspoint and Kleckley became Almeda 9 West and the 5 screen across the mall was named Almeda 9 East
saw mucho films at this place when it was a 4 screener. i mean many movies. i worked right across the gulf freeway and could shoot over to almeda in minutes and catch the matinee for a lousy buck. where i live now, the matinee is 5 dollars. my best memory is seeing “battle of britain” as the only attendee. that just NEVER happens.
