The Underground Cinema was opened in 1967. At one time you were able to see the sign Underground Cinema on Central Avenue before you came to Decatur Street. I do not remember seeing any advertisements for the theater but use to see the sign for it. There was not a marquee displaying what was playing. During the 1970’s Georgia State was considering having that as the place for the Lyceum program. At the time that was the name of the movie showing group at Georgia State. This was considered long before Cinefest existed. At the time what is now Cinefest would be in either its present location, 602 BA or the Urban Life Auditorium.

This opened in 1967, although I cannot find its opening date.
