1993 imagery shows the lot right where Dollar General and Wendy’s are at currently. NW corner of Ledo Rd. and Walnut St. A very strange rectangle lot layout.

by the time the mid to later 70s came, slappey drive-in showed a lot of double and triple billings of B to C movies. a lot of extra soft porn, spaghetti westerns, and older stuff. still, it was a lot of fun. saw ‘ghost and mr chicken’ here. at some point in the later 70s there was a fair amount of boozing and dope smoking going on during the shows.

I’m very sure the road was named after a person. Slappey is a common name back in the day.

A slightly closer address is 3005 N Slappey Blvd, Albany, GA.

This puts it on the property. The problem is that the entrance road connected to where Ledo Road is today. So, the new address puts it near where the screen once stood.

Today, a Dollar General, Wendy’s and a self-storage business sits on the property with no trace of the drive-in remaining.
