The Strand Theatre was opened in the period 1915-1916. It was still open in 1932. I was listed as (Closed) in the 1934 edition of Film Daily Yearbook. The building still exists, although heavily modified.

I have added 2 1920’s pictures in the photo section. Compare the upper cornice details to the modern photo and it is apparent that the building still stands.
In this photo from Wisconsin History, the Strand Theatre building was being used as a newspaper office. The date is probably around 1970, judging from the cars in the photo.
The Strand operated at least into the 1930s. The January 18, 1931, issue of The Film Daily said that the house had been leased by W. L. Uglow, who intended to remodel and equip the theater with sound.
The 1970s photo as The Waterford Press has been added to the gallery. The above link is now dead.
The Strand Theatre was built in the 1915-1916 period on East Main Street in Waterford. The drugstore building next door was completed in 1917, and this filled in the empty lots on the East Main Street business district.
The Strand Theatre was operated by L. G. Alby at for approximately 15 years. The Strand had a 2-floor layout with the projector on the balcony. Typical admission prices were 5 cents for children and 10 cents for adults. When the depression hit in 1930, L. G. Alby closed the theatre, became a foreman at Massey Ferguson in Racine and worked there until his retirement. The theatre was remodeled with a double storefront and became part of the Waterford Post newspaper offices.
