Apalachee Drive-In

This drive-in was located in the small town of Grand Ridge, right near a local road called Lover’s Lane. A local resident reported that Lover’s Lane, which now terminates at US 90, once extended south to the railroad tracks and the Old Spanish Trail, and that the theater was located a few hundred feet south of US 90.

The Apalachee Drive-In was opened prior to 1955, when it was operated by J.A. & Tony Howell and ABC Theatrical Enterprises of Jacksonville, FL. The Apalachee Drive-In had closed by 1983.

Possibly. Where’d you find out that name? I got Apalachee from a slightly dubious list of Florida drive-ins. Whatever the case may be, this theater definitely did exist.

Approx. address for this drive-in was 7101 US Hwy 90 (at the Old Hwy 90 intersection).

A closer address is 7191 Tyeview Dr., Grand Ridge, FL.

A 1955 topo map shows the drive-in entrance connecting to Tyeview Drive and not directly to the highway, although it is close.

Today, a private residence sits on the north side of the property, while the south side remains an open field. There is no trace of the drive-in remaining.
