Lyric Theatre #1 was added to the Murdock Building at 411 Main Street opening on March 1, 1908 with “The Prodigal Son.” It closed; but on April 3, 1926 Eastern Illinois Theatres Circuit opened Lyric Theatre #2 on April 3, 1926 with Betty Compson in “Counsel for the Defense.” The second Lyric Theater’s last film was “Speedy” supported by “Lone Horseman” on May 25, 1930 never converting to sound. On June 17, 1930, the entire interior was torn out for retail purposes.
