As far as I know this is the only photo available of the Hart in Camargo. It was already closed by 1950 when I was 9 years old and visiting Camargo regularly for family get-togethers. My cousin Gerald Wing (now deceased) said he was an usher at the Hart in its heyday.

One of my very earliest memories is the “lobby” of the Hart. I was so small that I saw only knees, but I can recall the candy display and the curtain between the tiny lobby and the theatre. The movie theater in “The Last Picture Show” reminded me of the Hart. PS, I knew the Wings, too.

The Hart Theatre, named after operator John Hart, opened its doors on June 14, 1946 with George Raft in “Johnny Angel” (unknown if extras added). H.O. Holliman is the original projectionist.
